Heightened Tamil Nadu Vigil on Border

COIMBATORE: In the wake of alleged Naxal movements on Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) officials have stepped up their vigil in the region.

According to sources, all pathways leading to the forest areas of TN were being constantly monitored by an armed team. Apart from keeping an eye on suspicious movements, the forest department staff, in coordination with the police, were thoroughly checking vehicles at check posts. Night patrolling has also been intensified in border areas of the two states covering the six forest ranges of Pollachi, Ulanthy, Valparai, Manampalli, Udumalai and Amaravathy.

The operation that began on Wednesday is likely to be intensified as the STF is all set to join the team on Friday or Saturday.
