Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president M Visweswaran on Friday said that the prospects of the ruling All India N R Congress (AINRC) aligning with his party to contest for the Lok Sabha elections was bright.

Speaking to reporters here, Visweswaran said,“A clear picture on the alliance is expected by February 5, when the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) allies in Tamil Nadu will be known.”

Expecting a truck with AINRC, the BJP leader said that the chances were high that the NDA candidate would win the Puducherry Lok Sabha seat and felt that an AINRC-BJP tie up would give the NDA its first electoral victory in Puducherry.

“The Congress-led UPA government at the Centre had deceived the AINRC government as far as funds were concerned.

If the BJP forms the government at the Centre, Rangasamy can get a liberal dose of funds from the Centre as it had been during the Vajpayee government,” he said.

Visweswaran added that the local unit of the BJP would also strive for it. He also said that the DMDK and MDMK were expected to be in the BJP front and that a clear picture would emerge before February 5.

He also condemned the CPI and the Congress for their statements that the AINRC should not forge an alliance with the BJP.
