Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)  organising secretary TKS Elangovan on Tuesday met the top brass of the Election Commission and submitted a memorandum on behalf of his party, calling for shifting of Director General of Police K Ramanujam.

The memorandum alleged that Ramanujam had been continuing in the post despite not receiving a salary, as the Auditor General was yet to clear the extension of his tenure.

Elangovan submitted the memorandum to Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath and Election Commissioner HS Brahma and Nasim Zaidi. The memorandum accused Ramanujam of favouring the ruling party in filing cases against DMK leaders. It also pointed out that he had served as DGP for two years and eight months, and urged the Commission to ‘shift’ him due to his long tenure.
