7 Members Added to Local Planning Body

Four councillors of the Vellore corporation and three citizens of the Vellore city have been inducted into the Local Planning Authority.

Four councillors of the Vellore corporation and three citizens of the Vellore city have been inducted into the Local Planning Authority. Mayor P Karthiyayini said the communication about the nominations had come from the Directorate of Housing and Urban Development, Chennai.

The four councillors were-R Nithyakumar, S Chokalingam, A Duraiarasan and K Damodaran. The three citizens were Vellore MLA Dr S Vijay, Advocate Giri and Dharmaraj Chetty. The Collector would be the chairman of the committee. The committee would meet periodically and discuss the building structures within the corporation and regulate the planning aspects. Any grievances regarding building planning could be submitted to this committee, she added.

Karthiyayini said she and a group of councillors had attended a two-day orientation training programme in Salem on Wednesday and Thursday. The training was on the duties and responsibilities of the elected representatives and the rules and regulations of the local body administration.
