TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday met DMK leader M Karunanidhi at DMK HQ to canvass support on Telangana issue. Even as he maintained his ambivalent stand on the bifurcation, Naidu called for a consensus to be reached on the matter before proceeding with the bifurcation.
Naidu met Karunanidhi in the presence of his son MK Stalin and senior party leaders Durai Murugan and K Ponmudy. He said he was meeting the leaders of all political parties to explain the impropriety and ulterior motives of the Congress in pushing ahead with the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. “I am neither supporting nor opposing the bifurcation. All I am saying is that the procedure the Congress is using is not correct, and is a violation of federal principles. They are doing this for political gain,” Naidutold reporters after his meeting with the DMK top brass.
