Pondy Equestrian Challenge Kicks Off at Auroville

The Pondicherry Equestrian Challenge 2014 kicked off at the Red Earth Equestrian Riding School at Auroville here on Friday.

The Indian Dressage League was held on the opening day of the event, when nearly 300 riders from across the country and over 100 horses participated.

Prize money of `5 lakh is on offer at the challenge in which teams from Ambur, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Pollachi, Tuticorin, Kolkata and Puducherry are taking part. The event is held over two weekends on February 7, 8 and 9 and on 15 and 16.

Maria Schwennesen, a Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) four star judge, Eva Maria, a 2 star FEI judge are among the judges for the contest. Spectators can look forward to music, food, fashion show and cultural activities.

Ouvrier, a street and performance artist from Paris, will showcase his paint, stencil and graffiti on canvasses at the event. Photographers and videographers will film the whole event.
