Opposition DMDK today started the process of screening aspiring candidates for the coming Lok Sabha elections, the party announced.

DMDK founder and Leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Vijayakant and senior leaders personally met the aspirants at the DMDK headquarters here, a party statement said.

The process is expected to go on for a few days.

Earlier, amidst aggressively being pursued by DMK and BJP for an electoral tie-up for Lok Sabha elections, DMDK invited applications from party workers to contest as candidates for all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu besides the lone Puduchery parliamentary seat.

The actor-politician had kept up the suspense on alliance last week when he said at his party conference in Uloonthoorpet that cadres "will oblige" when he takes the decision on the matter.
