Elderly Man, Daughter Die in Mishap

A 65-year-old man and his 45-year-old daughter were killed when the car in which they were travelling met with an accident in the early hours of Sunday.

Police said Mottaiyan (65) of Naikaneri hills village near Ambur, his wife Kannammal (60), daughter Rajammal (45), son Ramesh and and daughter-in-law Vanitha were going by taxi to Andhra Pradesh. When the car was passing through Machampattu village near Ambur, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rammed a tree on roadside. Mottaiyan died on the spot.

Locals alerted the 108 Ambulance service and the four who were injured, were taken to the Ambur GH. Rajammal later succumbed to injuries. Kannammal, who was in a critical condition, was later shifted to Vellore Government Medical College Hospital.
