A 40-year-old farmer allegedly stabbed his relative to death in Thakkolam on Thursday after a quarrel over water-sharing.

The deceased was Venkatesan, a resident of Thakkolam village. Police said Venkatesan owned a piece of land on the outskirts of the village, adjacent to that of his relative Mannakatti alias Ellappan (40).  The two often quarrelled over land issues.

On Thursday, Ellappan, after a brawl, fatally stabbed Venkatesan with a knife. Thakkolam police arrested Ellappan and sent Venkatesan’s body to Arakkonam GH for post-mortem.
