Cases were registered against four persons including wife of a prominent DMK leader for sale and purchase of land belonging to a French citizen using forged documents.

According to an RTI document, Dambrun Paulin, a French citizen, had given her 2,626 sq feet of land on the Kandappa Mudali Street through lease deeds in 1959 and in 1971 hired it to Rollando Joseph. Rollando defaulted in payment of the monthly rent and was asked to vacate. Since he failed to heed, Dambrun moved the Madras HC, which ordered the eviction through a judgement and decree in 2000.

However, later Rollando Joseph filed a suit in the Supreme Court and the apex court ordered Rollando to vacate the premises before in 31-8-2006. But, Rollando passed away on January 27, 2006 leaving behind his wife Jeanette Ester and son Rollando Kishore Alibert Asokan as legal heirs. Dambrun Paulin also died on February 20, 2012 in France and his son Marie Joseph Adrien Dambrun alias Tambrun had taken up the issue.

Meanwhile, Jeante Ester allegedly executed a registered settlement deed bequeathing the entire property in favour of son Alibert Ashokan, who allegedly sold an 925 sq feet in favour of Nithiadevi, wife of Mathivanan, and 1,656 sq feet to Shanthi, wife of DMK leader Dr MAS Subramanian, forging documents.

Meanwhile, M Joseph Adrien Dambrun lodged a complaint with the French Consulate. On direction from the Government of India,Puducherry district collector Deepak Kumar and Thasildar Ramesh conducted a thorough probe and it came to light that the land was sold out using fake documents. An FIR was registered at Odiansalai police station and cases were  registered against Jeanette Ester, Rollando Kichore Alibert Asokan, Nithiyadevi and Shanthi.

Cases were registered against the quartet under  sections 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating),471 (using as genuine a forged document),420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 34 IPC (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

Meanwhile, AIADMK State secretary A Anbazhagan MLA alleged that efforts are on to protect the culprits in the case. He  said the culprits should be brought to book. If the government failed in this regard, the AIADMK would organise agitations, after obtaining the permission of party general secretay J Jayalalithaa.
