Even as the Lok Sabha elections are round the corner, Puducherry DMK  organiser Dr M A S Subramanian is facing revolt from within the party.

Charging Subramanian with malpractices, senior leaders in the party have threatened not to enter the party office. Eight senior leaders in a letter to Dr Subramanian on Februray 12 (Express has a copy) contended that the building housing the DMK party office named ‘Kalainger Ellam’ on Candappa Mudaliar Street had been obtained through ‘fraudulent deal’ by Dr Subramanian and it had tarnished the name of the party.

The petitioners were: former CM R V Janakiraman, former Rajya Sabha member CPT Thiruinavukarasu, former Minister S P Sivakumar, MLA Nantha T Saravanan, Ex-MLAs R Siva and R Rajaram, presidium chairman P Subbrayan and deputy presidium chairman Seetha Vedhnayagan. The petitioners said they were going to open a separate office and the rent would be paid from their pockets. This arrangement would be till a new office is constructed in the land on ECR, they said.

“The property in which Kalainger Ellam is located was attacked for non-payment of sales tax by a petrol bunk proprietor,” said a leader. The leaders were up in arms against Dr Subramanian for non-submission of accounts to the 10-member executive committee.
