District-level Sports Contest for Govt Employees

The district sports office here is organising a district-level sports competition for government employees on February 20 at the Nethaji Sports Stadium, Officers’ Club, Prince Tennis Centre and EVR Periyar Park.

The district sports office here is organising a district-level sports competition for government employees on February 20 at the Nethaji Sports Stadium, Officers’ Club, Prince Tennis Centre and EVR Periyar Park.

According to the district sports officer C Paul Suthanthiradas, athletics events, (football for men), kabbadi (for men and women) and volleyball (men and women)  will  be held at the Nethaji stadium.

The shuttle badminton (men and women) event and table tennis will  be held at Officers’ Club (near Tollgate).

The tennis (men and women) event would be held at Prince Tennis Centre, Otteri, and basketball (men and women) will be held at EVR Periyar Park, Fort.

Only full-time employees of the government department are eligible to take part in the competitions.

Personnel from the Police and Fire Department, uniformed services, local body, public sector units, daily wagers and physical education department are not eligible.

The participants can also avail themselves of official leave for this day. They can also avail of the TA/DA from their respective offices.

The winners of the competition will receive prizes on the same day at Nethaji Stadium.

The winners are also eligible to take part in the State-level competitions.
