CM to Kickstart Poll Campaign from Theradi

AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday announced candidates for the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in State and Puducherry and also released the schedule for her State-wide campaign from March 3 till April 5.

The AIADMK chief will commence her campaign from Theradi in Kancheepuram and would visit the following places thereafter: Sriperumpudur (March 4), Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai (March 6), Kanyakumari (March 9), Chidambaram (March 11), Erode and Tirupur (March 13), Kallakurichi (March 15), Ramanathapuram (March 18), Tiruchi (March 19), Virudhunagar and Sivaganga (March 21), Pondicherry (March 23), Dindigul (March 25), Vellore (March 28), Tuticorin (April 1), Theni (April 2) and Tenkasi (April 5).

Asked whether any more parties would be accommodated in the AIADMK-led front, Jayalalithaa said: “For us, the present alliance is sufficient.”

On the election plank of the AIADMK, she said,  “Already I have announced that our slogan for the election would be ‘Peace, Prosperity and Progress’. Further details would be revealed in our election manifesto to be released soon.”

On her birthday, the AIADMK chief said her message to the people of Tamil Nadu is: “Cooperate with us and work for peace, prosperity and progress of not only Tamil Nadu but the entire Nation.”

Responding to a question, Jayalalithaa said “My concentration will be on Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and winning the 40 seats. So my efforts will be concentrated here.”

Asked if she would seek a special package for Tamil Nadu on the lines of some states, she shot back “This government? This government is on its way out. We will get whatever we want from a new government that will probably take charge in June.”
