Jayalalithaa Opens Slew of Infra Projects

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday through videoconferencing inaugurated projects and buildings worth `287.34 crore under the Highways and Minor Ports Department.  These included a railway over bridge in Chengalpattu, 38 bridges in 17 districts, two bypasses and office buildings for Highways Department in 5 districts.

The railway over bridge in Chengalpet has been built at a cost of `43.93 crore, and is expected to improve connectivity to the Grand Southern Trunk Road (NH 45) for not only locals living on eastern side of the railway track, but also from towns such as Kalpakkam, Mahabalipuram and Tirukkazhukundram. Jayalalithaa also inaugurated a causeway across the Ennore Creek, which has been constructed at a cost of `52.66 lakh. A total of 38 new bridges, of which five are over bridges, were inaugurated in 17 districts.
