Four of the faculty members of a private engineering college were arrested in connection with the suicide of a girl student two days ago.
Vinothini (18), daughter of a railway employee Ilango and a resident of Sultanpet, had committed suicide at the college campus on Monday.
Police said teachers Ernest Paul, Bhavani, Geetha and Priyadarshini were arrested on Wednesday. It might be recalled that police had filed FIR under section 306 of the IPC (abetment of suicide), against five teachers and four have been held on Wednesday evening.
After the enquiry report by revenue official, four of them were found to be involved in the case, police said. The arrest came following protests by students of various engineering colleges. The students and activists submitted memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor Virendra Kataria.
