Stalin-Balwa Meeting Just a Story: Raja

CHENNAI: Strongly refuting his aide Sadhik Batcha’s purported statement to the Enforcement Directorate that Swan Telecom’s Shahid Balwa had met DMK treasurer M K Stalin at his residence, former Union telecom minister A Raja called it a “fabrication and a story”.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Raja said, “Why are they coming up with this so-called evidence after so many years? Clearly the ED is cooking up this story.”

Holding the torch for M K Stalin’s innocence, Raja further lashed out at the CBI, ED and other agencies probing the Spectrum case, saying that they had cooked up stories with political motivation. “This charge sheet against our Thalapathy (Stalin) is a clear attempt on their part to tarnish the fine reputation of our political leader. No such meeting ever happened,” he said.

Even as the ED has been probing all the prime accused in the 2G Spectrum case in a special court in the national capital, Raja oozed confidence that the truth would prevail and that the charges would be dropped. However, he declined to talk about Subramanian Swamy’s demand for a probe into the Balwa-Stalin link.
