Ration Shop Workers seek Govt Benefits

VELLORE: The district unit of the Tamil Nadu Ration Shop Workers’ Union has urged the State government to elevate them as government employees.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at meeting in Wallajah recently. The meeting was presided over by the district president A Jeeva.

The union members wanted the State government to regularise the job of the ration shop workers and announce the pay scale accordingly.

For the past three years, the new pay scale had not been implemented and the members wanted the government to implement the same immediately. The ration shop workers should also be made eligible to receive all benefits such as insurance coverage and incentives from the government, the members further observed.

State joint secretary of the union Manikam and vice-president R Sathyanathan, among other office-bearers, participated in the meeting.
