TN: Hyder Ali Sent to 2 Days CBCID Custody

Ali, arrested last week from Palakkad in Kerala after being at large for over two decades, was produced before the Special Court for bomb blasts by the SID which sought seven days custody for questioing him.

COIMBATORE: A court here Tuesday remanded suspected extremist Hyder Ali to two days CBCID Special Investigation Division (SID) custody for interrogation in connection with several cases, including attempt to murder Hindu leaders and bomb blasts.

Ali, arrested last week from Palakkad in Kerala after being at large for over two decades, was produced before the Special Court for bomb blasts by the SID which sought seven days custody for questioing him.

However, judge Suresh Vishwanathan allowed SID two days for interrogation and asked it to produce before it on July 12 evening, police said.

The judge also posted the hearing of the bail petition by Ali for June 17.

Ali is facing charges of attacking various leaders of Hindu outfits and also the bombing of RSS office in Chennai, killing 11 persons in 1993.
