Govt Forms Anna University Council

COIMBATORE: The State government has constituted the Academic Council for the Anna University to chalk out its curriculum and syllabi.

According to an order from the higher education secretary, the Vice-Chancellor, chairmen of the faculties, library director, principals of government and aided engineering colleges would be the ex-officio members of the council.

The council would also have eight university professors nominated by the Governor. Further, 15 principals of affiliated universities, three educationists, research and educational administration - general and technical - on the recommendations of the State government would find place in the council.

Apart from this, the council also has one teacher each from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, IIT-Chennai, IIM-Bangalore and NIT-Tiruchy.

As per the order, the Vice-Chancellor would act as the ex-officio chairman of the council, while the Registrar would be the ex-officio secretary. All the members of the council, except the ex-officio members, would hold their offices for three years.
