60 Motors Seized for Illegally Tapping Water

VELLORE: Officials attached to Gudiyattam Municipality have seized around 60 electric motor pumps from residents who were allegedly involved  in illegal tapping of water from pipelines.

Led by Municipality Commissioner N Viswanathan and  engineer Uma Maheswari, a team went around Tharnampettai, Chittoorgate, Thiruvallurvar Nagar, Nadupettai, Asiriyar Colony and  Thazhaiyattam in the past two days and conducted a surprise inspection among the households engaged in illegal tapping of water.

The officials seized the electric motor pumps and issued a warning against such malpractices.

On Thursday, health officials attached to Vellore Corporation, who undertook a surprise check on the sale of unhealthy plastic products, seized 212 kg of plastics, which were below 40 micron.

Led by the Corporation health officer Vasanth Diwakar, the officials conducted the check at Chunnambukkara Street and Mandy Street where wholesale shops sold plastic products. Some traders in the locality protested  against the officials.
