PUDUCHERRY: The BJP’s Puducherry unit president Visweswaran on Sunday exhorted the party cadre to work with the people to earn their goodwill, thus  paving way to enter the Union Territorial Assembly.

The BJP leader’s appeal came during a function organised to welcome 500 people to the party- fold, led by their leader Pasupathi here.

At the meeting, Visweswaran made clear his party’s intentions to expand its base at the grassroots-level. “Take up issues, problems faced by the people of the area and help them find a solution. In this way, the party can earn the trust of the people which will, in turn, help them get a seat in the Territorial Assembly,” he added further.

Visweswaran, who was buoyed by the success of the BJP’s alliance with the ruling AINRC, said that the target of the BJP would be to emerge as the ruling party of the Union Territory and also send people’s representatives to its Assembly in the 2016 elections.

Further, the BJP leader also stressed that the Modi wave, which the country had witnessed during the election season, had worked in Puducherry also and had helped in the victory of the All India NR Congress candidate in the Lok Sabha election.
