RAMANATHAPURAM : The Rashtirya Swayamsevak Sangh urged the government to initiate departmental action against the police officers who arrested RSS functionaries at Devipattinam.

Marimuthu, RSS state unit president, talking to media persons here on Sunday, said, many national and state-level leaders came here to attended the two-day southern state-level executive committee meeting at Devipattinam.

As usual a warm up was held prior to the meeting. As part of this, the participants who came for the conclave, held a prayer near the temple. Meanwhile, police personnel arrived at the spot and ordered that they vacate the area immediately.

The cops reportedly used harsh words against the RSS leaders and cadre.

Marimuthu said, the RSS has decided to conduct a demo at Valluvarkottam in Chennai on Monday to condemn the police excesses.

Meanwhile, BJP cadre staged demonstrations at various places in many districts, including Madurai and Ramanathapuram, on Sunday condemning the arrest of RSS cadre at Devipattinam.
