RAMESWARAM: Five persons were arrested Monday at Pamban here for attempting to smuggle tobacco worth about Rs five lakh to Sri Lanka, police said.
Following a tip off, police rushed to Pamban sea shore and searched a country boat, where 300 kg of tobacco was found and arrested five persons in it, police said.
Police also seized the country boat and a car belonging to them.
