VELLORE: A training camp was conducted for noon meal workers in Vellore on Tuesday, to educate them and equip them to prepare quality food for children.
“The theme of the camp is to provide high quality food to children. Under the MGR Sathunavu Thiitam (nutritious food scheme) around 2,94,889 children in the district benefit from the scheme. Our government has been working towards providing high quality healthy food to school children. So the trainees have to keep this in mind,” Collector R Nanthagopal said on the occasion.
In Vellore Corporation, there are 121 nutritious meal centres and in rest of Vellore district, 2230 centres had been functioning under the MGR nutritious meal scheme.
Around 60 nutritious meal workers attended the training camp held at Yelagiri Hall in the city.
Lokeswarry, program officer of women schemes, George Washington, district Collector’s direct assistant, nutritious meal workers and officials of many government departments were present on the occasion.
