3 Rob Laptops, Accessories, Arrested in UT

PUDUCHERRY: Three persons have been accused of stealing laptops, tablets and computer accessories from HCL Info Systems Limited at Sedarapet on Tuesday and been arrested by the police.

Senior SP (Law and Order) Omvir Singh Bishnoi told reporters that  police had got a complaint on Sunday last from the deputy manager of the computer firm, Thomas Varghese. In the complaint, he said, some unknown persons had stolen laptops and other computer accessories over a period of time, from  June 6 to June 21.

Acting on the complaint, special teams were formed under the supervision of the SP (Rural) V Deivasigamani to catch the culprits. During its investigations, the team noticed two persons later identified as Kumaran, a resident of Pappanchavady, and Vanchnathan, a resident of Panruti, standing near an ATM centre at Sedarapet with two laptops. The team questioned them and they admitted that they had stolen laptops from the firm.

Inquiry revealed that they had stolen more items from the company with the help of a security guard. The team arrested  Jerald Raj, a resident of Ravuthankuppam. Police recovered eight laptops, one desktop, three monitors, four keyboards, three webcameras, three tablets, nine  hard disks and other accessories from Kumaran’s house.
