CBI to Probe into Death of Anand Regency Chief

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the probe into the mysterious death of chairman of Anand Regency Hotel Group and Anand Cine Services A Ravi Shankar Prasad.

YANAM (PUDUCHERRY): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the probe into the mysterious death of chairman of Anand Regency Hotel Group and Anand Cine Services A Ravi Shankar Prasad.

According to sources, CBI DIG Sangithar and SP Saravanan, both based in Chennai, visited Gogulanka village of I Polavaram mandal Wednesday where the body of Ravi Shanakar Prasad was found in July last.

The death of Prasad created a sensation in South India. He went to the  Yanam branch of his hotel located on the bypass road on the night of July 7. He went for a morning walk with an umbrella on the Balayogi Varadhi in the wee hours of July 8 as per the footage of the CC camera. However, he did not return to the hotel after that. His body was traced at Gogulanka village of I Polavaram mandal in East Godavari district. The I Polavaram police registered a case and started investigation.

On the recommendations of the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry, CBI took over the case and began its investigation. Anand Regency Group runs two hotels - one in Rajahmundry and the other at Yanam. Meanwhile, Yanam SP Vamsidhar Reddy is learnt to have met the CBI DIG.
