Three More Held in Rowdy Murder Case

PUDUCHERRY: Three more  were arrested on Thursday for the murder of notorious rowdy Chandru alias Manikandan on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police T Bairavasamy identified the arrested as Viknesh alias Vicky alias Randy(18) of Annai Therasa Nagar, Joel  Jeba Raj(19) of Lawspet and Jaya Suriya(18) of Kosapalayam.

Five other persons involved in the murder surrendered before Saidapet Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Chennai on Wednesday. They were identified as Noor Mohamed (21) and Shajahan (20) from Jeeva Nagar, Sabari Malaiyan (21) of Saram, Siva (19) of Reddiarpalayam and Gokulraj (22) of Mudaliarpet.

The SP told reporters that all the accused were students of engineering and arts and science colleges.

Interrogation of the trio arrested on Thursday revealed that there had been enmity between Chandru’s friends and those of Noor Mohammed and Shajahan. On Sunday last, Chandru and his friends reportedly went to the residence of Shajahan and Noor Mohammed and threatened their mother Noorjahan. The duo, with their friends, murdered Chandru, who was standing near an AC mechanic shop. Police also seized the motorcycle and three cellphones used by the accused.

Bairavasamy said the police have  sought the custody of  those who surrendered on Thursday and they would be taken into judicial custody in a day or two.
