'Finish Works to Evade Water Crisis'

Managing director of the TWAD Board P Vijayarajkumar, who reviewed the ongoing water works in the district on Saturday, has directed the officials of the department to complete them by March-end to ensure that there is no water scarcity.

He reviewed the 734 works that were underway at an estimated cost of ` 22.58 crore - 82 works in Vellore Corporation at(` 7.76 crore; 407 works in municipalities (at  ` 9.23 crore;, 94 works in 20 blocks at ` 2.16 crore; 143 works in town panchayats at(` 2.46 crore; and eight works through the TWAD board at(` 2.97 crore.

He looked also into the progress of the measures taken  to tackle water scarcity during the summer months and suggested the use of trucks for distributing water.

The review meeting was attended by officials from the Vellore Corporation, 11 municipalities, 16 town panchayats and 20 blocks. Chief engineer of TWAD Board S Amalraj, project director of District Rural Development Agency N Srinivasan and regional director of Municipal administration Kubendiran, were among those present at the review meeting.
