A 50-year-old man’s body was found in a decomposed state below a bridge on the National Highway-46 at Vettuvanam in Pallikonda police station limits on Sunday.
The police commenced an inquiry to establish the identity of the deceased and to find out whether it was case of murder or suicide.
The police officials said they had collected vital evidence, including a shirt that had a tailor’s name on it, to identify the deceased.
They, however, ruled out any foul play in the case as the position of the body indicated that the man had fallen off the bridge and died.The body has been sent to the Government Hospital for autopsy.
