A 45-year-old grocery shop owner was arrested by the Veeranam police for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl here on Thursday morning.
According to the police, Rajaraman (name changed) (45), a grocer of Valluvar Colony near Allikuttai, a few days back allegedly sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl, when she came to buy chocolates to his shop.
Parents after seeing injury marks questioned the girl as to what happened and she narrated the act of Ramanathan.
When locals came to know about this, they laid siege to Ramanathan’s shop on Thursday. However, cops rescued him from the mob and took him to the Veeranam police station. Subsequently, police have registered a case and arrested Ramanathan.
