St Mary's School Students Dance Their Way to Victory at Diabetes Event in CMC

Students of St Mary’s Higher Secondary School won the first prize in the dance competition conducted by the CMC Hospital here on Sunday as part of the Diabetes Month celebrations.

The second prize was won by students of Shantiniketan Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

Among the colleges, St John’s Nursing College bagged the first prize followed by Venkateswara Polytechnic College.

The theme of the competition was ‘Diabetes and Eye’.

Dr Nihal Thomas said the hospital  had conducted a series of competitions in the form of cookery, quiz programmes for nurses, medicos and teachers, essay- writing, painting, posters, cycling and dance competition. The celebrations were aimed at making the young generation realise the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle  to  prevent diabetes, he said.

“Our efforts centered around The World Diabetes Day. No matter what your risk factors are, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise are the key to reducing risk of diabetes,” he added.

Dr Alfred Job Daniel, principal of the CMC, while handing over prizes advised children to exercise, choose what to eat.  He emphasised on physical activity.
