The DMK on Monday fielded C N Annadurai as party’s candidate for the Tiruvannamalai Lok Sabha constituency. The name has a ring in Dravidian politics, as it is identical to that of the DMK founder, Arignar Anna. Incidentally, his dad’s name is Natarajan, which was the name of the father of Arignar Anna as well.  The 41-year-old candidate is currently the Tiruvannamalai district DMK youth wing organiser. A commerce graduate, Annadurai hails from Devanampattu village in Thurinjapuram panchayat in the district. He joined the party at the grassroots level and was later appointed party branch secretary of the panchayat. He was the vice-chairman of Thurinjapuram union between 2006 and 2011.

He married Deepa, a medical practitioner, and the couple has two sons. Aringar Anna was a Rajya Sabha member between 1962-67. Will the 41-year old too make it?
