The Pernmabut Consumer Welfare and Protection Society has appealed to the Election Commission of India(ECI)and the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu to consider conducting one more special camp for the enrolment of voters.

President of the society T Basheeruddin said that  while it was good on the part of the ECI to hold a one-day special camp last Sunday, it did not augur well in some places, where the camps were held, because the voters’ list was not kept on display. Because of this,  many people who had  submitted petitions for enrolment or changes were not able to find out whether their names were included in the list or not. In addition, many such people would have applied for either fresh enrolment during the camp day.

Basheeruddin said the commission should therefore conduct one more special camp during any of the week days this month. Until April 20, the voters’ list should also be displayed in all the booths for the perusal of the voters in all the constituencies, he added.
