Two AIADMK workers - one wearing a flex board banner as shirt and another sporting 66 badges of the outfit on his shirt to mark J Jayalalithaa’s 66th birthday - grabbed all eyeballs at Kadirvel Nagar here, where party functionaries and cadre were eagerly awaiting for the arrival of party supremo for poll campaign on Saturday.

The duo was spotted roaming around the campaign ground and quickly became the centre of attraction. When questioned about their novel choice of attire, Gunasekaran, of Vellore district, who was wearing a flex banner as shirt, and Logeshwaran, of Madurai district, who had adorned his shirt with 66 party badges, said that they were doing their bits to make sure that their leader (Jayalalithaa) became the Prime Minister.

However, complaining about being neglected by the party members, Gunasekaran said that he had been present at every campaign meeting of the outfit in his 25 years as a member.

“I take care of my expenses and have never asked any help from anyone. I am wearing a flex banner as shirt. Though it has taken a toll on my skin, I bear with it as I want to see ‘Amma’ as the Prime Minister.” said Gunasekaran.

Meanwhile, Logeshwaran claimed that he had been attending party’s campaigns for the past 25 years and had even carried a kavadi He said that ahead of the Chief Minister’s birthday, he had fasted for 66 days.  “I had pierced badges on my body and had to get 132 stitches. I had even planned to pull a chariot to make Amma the Prime Minister,” he added.

The duo hope that someday the party supremo would notice their sacrifices and appreciate the same.
