An interviewer at a local Tamil newspaper in Coimbatore and his colleague were arrested on Saturday for allegedly molesting a 32-year-old woman who had applied for a job of typist.

According to police, a Katoor resident had gone to the office of the little-known ‘Tamil Malar’ newspaper in Edayarpalayam for an interview on Saturday morning. During the interview, Anand (36) of K K Nagar in Anaikatti misbehaved with the candidate after asking her a few questions.

“Anand molested the woman and sexually harassed her. Taken aback, she tried to hurriedly exit the office when another staffer Jeevadass (30) hailing from Agali in Kerala, accosted her and offered money to keep quiet about the incident,” a police officer in Thudiyalur said.

However, the woman did not relent and boldly filed a complaint at the Thudiyalur police station. Police then arrested Anand and Jeevadas.
