Election Department flying squad seized ` 6,70,185 from a petrol pump employee after he failed to produce necessary documents.
Dinesh Prabhu of Kuyavarpalayam was plying to Cuddalore from Puducherry in a car.
The flying squad led by Rajalingam and inspector Lenin Bharathi stopped the car near Mullodai during a vehicle check.
When Dinesh failed to produce documents for the money, officials seized the cash and entrusted it with the revenue department.
Meanwhile, Dr S B Deepak Kumar, DEO, asked candidates to open a separate bank account exclusively for the purpose of election expenditure. The account should be opened at least one day before the candidate files nomination papers, he said.
