‘Vennira Aadai' Kicks off Campaign

Actor Vennira Aadai Nirmala, who recently rejoined the AIADMK, addressed the Ambur electorate at a function held in the leather town on Tuesday night.

Actor Vennira Aadai Nirmala, who recently rejoined the AIADMK, addressed the Ambur electorate at a function held in the leather town on Tuesday night.

Speaking at the function, she said, “Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has extended support and assistance to all sections of the society through various welfare schemes, which is  unprecedented in the history of the state.”  She said Jayalalithaa had emerged as an able leader, who has not only steered the state out of corruption, but also to play a bigger role in nation building. She urged the electorate to vote for AIADMK candidate Senguttuvan to continue to get the welfare measures and experience growth.

She elaborated on the welfare measures implemented by the AIADMK government and sought the support of the electorate for the AIADMK candidate P Senguttuvan in Vellore constituency. She also addressed a meeting in the Baazar area and Reddy Thoppu area later. She was accompanied by party seniors.

PMK founder Ramadoss, while addressing a meeting in Arcot on Tuesday, described the PMK candidate R Velu, who is contesting from Arakkonam as a non-controversial person and urged the voters to vote for him.

He said PMK would not encourage anyone to vote for money and questioned if other parties would do the same. He also wanted the electors to ensure that polling was conducted in a free and fair manner.

DMK seniors led by former minister Durai Murugan, who addressed the party cadre at  Timiri and Arakkonam, said there was no Modi wave in the country and the DMK would have an upper hand in deciding the Prime Minister of the country. Arakkonam DMK candidate N R Elango, district secretary R Gandhi, campaign manager Mohamed Saqui among other senior leaders also spoke.
