Will Treat Allies With Dignity, Assures Pon Radhakrishnan

It’s good for senior Congress leaders like P Chidambaram to stay away from elections, said BJP State president and the party’s Kanyakumari Lok Sabha candidate Pon Radhakrishnan, here on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters at Thovalai, where he hit the campaign trail after offering worship at the Lord Krishna Temple, Radhakrishnan said Chidambaram should desist from politics as he had betrayed the Tamil people.

Radhakrishan further said that the BJP would treat its allies with dignity even if it secured majority, he said and expressed confidence that the NDA would win more than 300 seats across the country. “For long, Dravidian parties have been heading the alliances in the State. But for the first time, a strong team has been formed under the helm of the BJP,” he said and added that the alliance would win more number of seats in Tamil Nadu.

To a query, Radhakrishnan said that he did not want to politicise the Koodankulam issue, but added that the safety of the reactors should be ensured.

Steps will be taken to establish the stalled Sports Authority of India (SAI) sub-centre in Kanyakumari district if the BJP came to power, he said.

Party functionaries and alliance leaders accompanied Radhakrishnan on his campaign.
