Congress Fields Vazhapadi's Son in Dharmapuri Constituency

The Congress on Monday released the names of its candidates for three more constituencies. With this announcement, the party put names on its tickets to 33 of Tamil Nadu’s 39 constituencies.

The second list of the Congress for the state included another legacy candidate - Vazhappadi Rama Suganthan, son of deceased Congress veteran Vazhappadi Ramamurthi.

Rama Suganthan is set to contest in Dharmapuri, which is headed for a tough fight with AIADMK’s PS Mohan, DMK’s R Thamarai Selvan and PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss. He joins other legacy candidates, who have family members in politics, such as Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s son Karti P Chidambaram, former Union Minister Rangarajan Kumaramangalam’s son Mohan Kumaramangalam, Union Minister of State EM Sudarsana Natchiappan’s nephew PN Bharat Natchiappan and former TNCC president M Krishnassamy’s son MK Vishnu Prasad on the list of Congress candidates.

The candidates announced by the Congress on Monday were Victory M Jayakumar for the Thiruvallur (SC) constituency and former Youth Congress activist K Selvaraj for the Pollachi constituency.

The party is yet to name candidates for the North Chennai, South Chennai, Krishnagiri, Villupuram, Karur and Kanyakumari.
