Wary PMK Seeks Scaled-up D’puri Security for Anbumani

A group of workers belonging to the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Wednesday met the Superintendent of Police, Asra Garg, and submitted a petition seeking additional protection for the National Democratic Alliance candidate and former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, here on Wednesday.

A group of workers belonging to the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Wednesday met the Superintendent of Police, Asra Garg, and submitted a petition seeking additional protection for the National Democratic Alliance candidate and former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, here on Wednesday.

The PMK cadre in their petition pointed out that PMK candidates, including A K Murthy from Arani constituency and former Union Minister of State for Railways, R Velu, from Arakkonam constituency, were attacked while they were campaigning and so as a precautionary measure protection should be given to Anbumani Ramadoss in the Dharmapuri district.

Alleging Viduthalai Chiruthigal Katchi cadre were behind the attacks, the cadre said that some anti-social elements would try to sabotage the parliamentary election campaign of their leaders in the district as well. The local leaders sought the Dharmapuri police to provide additional security Anbumani Ramadoss.

Anbumani launched his door-to-door campaign on Wednesday and visited over forty villages coming under different taluks in Papparapatti and Pennagaram.

Meanwhile, a release from the PMK district committee stated that its Dharmapuri candidate Anbumani Ramadoss would campaign in Harur taluk on Thursday.
