NTK Neutral on Vaiko, to Back Jaya

Extending support to the ruling AIADMK in the upcoming Lok Sabha election to be held on April 24 in the Stae, the pro-Tamil Naam Thamizhar Katchi (NTK)

Extending support to the ruling AIADMK in the upcoming Lok Sabha election to be held on April 24 in the Stae, the pro-Tamil Naam Thamizhar Katchi (NTK) of actor-filmmaker S Seeman has adopted a neutral stand with regard to parties like the MDMK and DMK which are espousing the cause of the Lankan Tamils issue.

“Our energy will be devoted against the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well as the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK),” Seeman told the media after the party’s general council meetin in the city on Saturday.

The Naam Thamizhar Katchi leader made it clear that the party was determined to ensure the defeat of the candidates fielded by these three parties.

In his view, the AIADMK playing a bigger role at the national level was welcome as it would strengthen federalism.

While support to the AIADMK was on expected lines, with Chief Minister Jayalalithaa taking a pro-active stance on the Lankan Tamil issue and the problems faced by fishermen at the hands of the Lankan navy, only now the party has come out explicitly against the BJP and the DMDK.

Surprisingly, Seeman who had extended support to the anti-Koodankulam struggle, has not extended any support to PMANE leaders Udayakumar, Pushparayan and Jesuraj.

A gifted orator, the actor-director said that he would commence the NTK campaign from Athur in Kanniyakumari district, where the party workers were assaulted by Congressmen.

In the previous election, Seeman and his party have played a crucial role in the defeat of the Congress in many seats.
