Deconstructing the BJP prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the Save Tamils Movement, a pro-Tamil outfit, has come out with a book titled Modi  —Vezhicchathin Nizhalil.

The book, which delves into Modi’s alleged role in the 2002 Gujarat riots, was released at an event here on Sunday, by the general secretary of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, Kovai Ramakrishnan.

Receiving the first copy of the book, Save Tamils functionary T Thaimiya compared the Gujarat riots to the genocide of Sri Lankan Tamils in the 2009 war in the island nation and said, “In both cases a minority has been victimised. Hence, if we condemn Rajapaksa, we should raise our voice equally against Modi.”

He criticised the Dravidian and other parties in the State that have aligned with the BJP. “There are many who don the pro-Tamil cap to gain popular appeal but are actually engaged in hypocrisy leading to the slow dying out of Periyar’s Self Respect Movement,” he said.

K Anbarasu of Save Tamils said the book will ‘enlighten’ voters and help them make an informed choice when exercising their franchise.
