Tamil Youths and Students Federation organised a human chain protest against the Indian government’s weak stand on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue and a model referendum for Tamil Eelam, in Chromepet here on Sunday.
According to Prabhakran V, student leader of the Federation, over 500 members of the public who were approached voted ‘aye’ for a separate Tamil Eelam.
Condemning the Indian government’s abstention from voting on the UN resolution calling for an independent investigation into the war crimes, Prabhakaran said, “The Congress government has betrayed the sentiments of the Tamils.”
Over 100 students participated in the protest.
