Karnataka road transport officials have prevented the luxury buses from Tamil Nadu from entering into their State, claiming that the vehicles have failed to comply with the rules and regulations.
Following this, the passengers were stranded early in the morning. The Bangalore-bound passengers took other alternative mode of transport to reach their destinations from the border point. Around 100 luxury buses were stopped today near Karnataka border.
While many of the luxury coach buses returned to their depots in Tamil Nadu, some of the buses are still parked in roadside Dhabas and Petrol bunks in Hosur region.
Following frequent fire accidents in luxury buses in Karnataka in recent months, the neighbouring State government has ordered to provide emergency fire exit doors in the buses.
Accordingly, Karnataka Road State Transport Corporation (KRSTC) has created provisions for fire exits in the buses operated by them.
Karnataka government has fixed May 1 as the deadline for the bus operators to provide such emergency exits. Karnataka government took this step after a spate of incidents in the last six months.
