Tension gripped Thalayalnadanthakulam near Kayathar after two groups of Dalits clashed over accounts settlement of a recently-concluded Kaliamman Temple festival. The Chithirai festival was held last week.
On Sunday night, while temple committee president Sudalaimadan was checking the accounts of the festival, some members from the opponent group came and asked him to show them the expenditure, which he rejected and this resulted in a clash between the groups.
Ramaraj, an auto driver, and Arumugam, started attacking Sudalaimadan and his men. Kulandaivel, Murugan and Mannaru rushed to Sudalaimadan’s rescue, leaving some of them injured. Two cases were registered by the Kayathar police.
