Erode Breaks 28-yr Record of Virudhunagar

Breaking the 28-year run of Virudhunagar in securing the top position in plus two results, Erode obtained highest pass percentage of 97.05 in the State.

According to Collector S Madhumathi, it got the fifth position last year with 94 percent pass and in 2012, it was in the third place. This year, of the 26,464 students in 183 schools, 25,683 have passed.

S Naveenkumar of Erode Hindu Kalvi Nilayam, with 1189 marks is the district topper, while the second rank went to Preethisri, BVBMHSS Erode who scored 1,188 marks. The third rank was obtained by L Swathi, EHKN who got 1187 marks.

Last year, just five government schools secured centum whereas it rose to 19 now. While, 208 students obtained centum in Physics, 113 got centum in Chemistry, 53 in Biology, one in botany, one in Statistics, 94 in Computer Science, 316 in Mathematics, 77 in Economics, 160 in Commerce, 158 in Accountancy, 40 in Business Mathematics and nine in Accounts and Auditing.

Appreciating the CEO P Ayyannan for achieving the feat, she said the hard work of head masters, teachers, students and parents  helped the district to get the highest pass percentage. She hoped that the achievement would continue in the ensuing SSLC results and coming years.

When contacted, the CEO said holding of four unit tests in addition to the regular tests in schools is the secret of getting high pass percentage. He also said that he held teachers meeting and asked them to submit their targets of pass percentage in each subject.
