“Service to the needy is going to be my mission,” says M Pavithra, a student of  V R VG Higher Secondary School in Ranipet, who secured the State first rank in Nursing (vocational subject) in the Plus-Two board examination the results of which were out on Friday. She scored 1,094/1,200, to secure  the first rank (Tamil-182/200, English-160/200, Zoology-154/200,Nursing-198/200, Nursing 1-200/200, Nursing 2-200/200).

A native of Puliyanthangal village near Ranipet, Pavithra wants to become a nurse and serve the needy. She said the support from teachers and parents had motivated her to work hard to achieve this feat. Her teacher Lathi said she was  happy that her student, who had studied in Tamil medium up to class 10, got first rank in nursing.

Top Ranks in Urdu

Three girls from Islamiah Higher Secondary School in Vaniyambadi have secured the top three ranks in Urdu language in the Plus-Two board examination this year.

Azra Tameen, who secured 197/200 to secure the  first rank, said she wanted to become a poet and a writer. She attributed her top rank to the support of her parents and teachers, who had helped her achieve sucess .

The second ranker Thaiyaba Aman, who is also from the same school and who scored  196/200, expressed her desire to become a journalist after studies.

The third ranker Hafeefa scored 195/200.
