Provide Generator at PHC, CPI Tells UT Admin

The Community Party of India (CPI) has appealed to the Union Territory administration to instal a generator at the Public Health Centre (PHC), situated near Madha Koil at Ariyankuppam.

In a statement, the CPI leader Geethanathan said more than 300 patients turned up for treatment at the PHC, which is devoid of many basic facilities.

There are frequent power cuts in the area and the doctors are not able to attend to the patients during night. Emergency cases also could not be attended, he said adding that because of the power failure, medical instruments could not be sterilised either.

Geethanathan urged the Health Department to set up a powerful generator at the earliest, to cater to the power needs of the PHC.

The CPI leader also urged the department to appoint enough doctors and other staff at the PHC as a number of rural patients depend on it for getting immediate treatment.
