Constable Ends Life by Jumping Before Train

A head constable allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Jolarpet on Monday.

VELLORE: A head constable allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Jolarpet on Monday. The deceased was identified as A Vinayagam (48), a resident of Athiyur village and a head constable at the Jolarpet police station.

His body was found between Kethandapatti and Jolarpet. The personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jolarpet Railway Junction were informed about the incident about 8 am. The police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the GH at Tirupattur for a post-mortem.

Sources at Jolarpet Station said that Vinayagam might have taken the extreme step due to family problems.

He had been transferred to Jolarpet on February 2014 from Vaniyambadi Town Station. Vinayagam is survived by wife Lakshmi and two sons  Thanaselan and Sakthivel.  A case was registered in this regard.
