220 Diff-abled Teachers Write TET

As many as 220 differently abled BEd qualified teachers appeared for the first ever special Teacher Eligibility Test at Voorhees Higher Secondary School on Wednesday

VELLORE: As many as 220 differently abled BEd qualified teachers appeared for the first ever special Teacher Eligibility Test at Voorhees Higher Secondary School on Wednesday.

The test was conducted by the Teacher Recruitment Board for teachers seeking appointment in government schools.

“Thirty nine visually challenged persons were given  scribes, while others wrote the examination without any difficulty,” said P Subramani, Chief Educational Officer.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), through its District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), conducted a 40-day special coaching camp for candidates (especially the visually challenged) taking this special test.

Books Distributed

The Chief Educational Officer P Subramani said that the text books and other free educational materials including the uniforms had been handed over to headmasters of the schools in the district.

The students will be receiving the materials on June 2, when the schools reopen for the new academic year, after the vacation.
